Delta Air Lines is offering 5,000 bonus SkyMiles to frequent flyers who donate $300 or more to the charity network United Way this month.

For the past 30 years, United Way has partnered with Delta to support various non-profit organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Girl and Boy Scouts, Big Brothers and Sisters, and more. To donate, please visit the Give Lively page and provide your SkyMiles number and ZIP code. The United Way of Greater Atlanta will process your donations and will benefit organizations in your hometown.

If you donate at least $50, you will earn bonus SkyMiles in the following amounts:

  • $50-$124: 1,000 bonus miles
  • $125-$299: 2,500 bonus miles
  • $300 or more: 5,000 bonus miles

Bonus miles will be credited to your SkyMiles account within three weeks of the donation and can then be used to book award flights, secure upgrades, check bags for free, and nab other perks when you travel.

The promotion is running until September 30.

“Delta has partnered with United Way for over 30 years, and we are grateful for your decision to invest in tangible quality-of-life improvements for real people in real communities,” said A spokesperson for Delta.”Together, we can be the champions for our communities.”

The airline said that the partnership includes donations by Delta employees, including “100%” of the airline’s senior leaders. Last year, Delta staff raised $1.8 million for United Way.

Delta employees and travelers can also donate unused SkyMiles to United Way through the SkyWish program. United Way then distributes those miles to the non-profits it supports. For instance, donated Delta SkyMiles have provided flights for more than 250 survivors of human trafficking.

The airline has even commemorated the partnership by painting the United Way logo on one of its Boeing 767 planes.

Loyal to another airline and wanting to do good? American Airlines is teaming up with Stand Up To Cancer and, during September, will give AAdvantage members 25 bonus miles for every dollar they donate of $25 or more to the charity, which supports cancer research.

Similarly, United Airlines is working with the National Foundation of Cancer Research and will give MileagePlus members ten bonus miles per dollar donated, with a minimum donation amount of $25.
