Alaska Airlines Raises the Bar with Renewed Seattle Lounge
The newly renovated space features 50% more seating options than before along with a new barista station and an expanded hot food menu

After undergoing a five-month renovation, Alaska Airlines has reopened the doors of its popular D Concourse Lounge at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which serves as its primary hub.
Over the past five years, the airline based in Seattle has been focused on expanding its airport lounge network by investing $30 million in its existing lounges and new spaces nationwide.

As part of this investment, its oldest airport lounge—SeaTac’s D Concourse Lounge—has been given its first total makeover in almost two decades, opening its doors to premium passengers and frequent flyers again as of Wednesday, June 21.
Alaska Airlines says the newly refurbished lounge has 50% more seating space than before, including comfortable loungers on the mezzanine level overlooking the runway.

It also includes a brand-new barista station on the first level for passengers to grab a quick coffee before heading to their gate. At the same time, the layout of the bar area has been improved, with complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks on offer along with an expanded hot food menu.

“We take tremendous pride in making sure each of our Lounges is a relaxed, calm escape for our members and guests – an oasis of good food and drink presented with the care we’re known for, along with amazing views,” said Sangita Woerner, senior vice president of marketing and guest experience at Alaska Airlines.
“The revamped D Concourse Lounge in Seattle will be a huge hit with all those travelers who visit. We added thoughtful touches – from being able to quickly grab a delicious hand-crafted espresso beverage to more comfy chairs to relax in.”
The new lounge also features artwork from locally-renowned artist Louie Gong, whose distinctive style draws on influences from his Coast Salish heritage and local urban environments.

“It made me happy to know that my art might be the first impression made on travelers in Seattle and sometimes the last visual impression they take with them as they leave the Lounge,” said Gong.
Other areas of Alaska’s lounge improvement project include the expansion of its D Concourse Lounge at SeaTac, which has been expanded by 3,000 square feet and 60 extra seats.
It has also opened a new patio space in its Concourse C Lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX) and a new ‘express lounge’ in the recently renovated Concourse B. Overall, the airline has increased seating capacity across both West Coast airports by 60%.

In the future, Alaska Airlines is set to open a new lounge at San Francisco International Airport’s (SFO) Harvey Milk Terminal 1 when it moves there in 2024, as well as a brand-new, 10,000 square-foot Flagship Lounge at Portland in some time around 2025 or 2026.
The new D Concourse Lounge is now open to all Alaska Lounge members, their immediate family members, and First Class passengers.
