Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has announced groundbreaking plans to acquire 33 new aircraft from Airbus in a deal worth $10.1 billion. The acquisition will include 18 A350-1000s and 15 A321neos—a mix of wide and narrow-body aircraft.

Although the specific A321neo variant has not been disclosed, these planes are expected to be used for regional routes. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the order will include the long-range variant of the stretched A320 Family aircraft.

The A350-1000 aircraft, however, will likely replace the aging Boeing 777-300ERs on current long-haul routes to Europe and North America. The oldest 777 in the fleet is almost 17 years old.

With the arrival of the A350-1000 planes and more soon-to-be-delivered Boeing 787-9 and -10 Dreamliners, EVA Air will further establish its position as one of Asia’s most dependable long-haul flight operators. Moreover, the airline plans to introduce a new Premium Economy cabin on the 787 fleet, as currently, only the 777 aircraft have this feature.

Furthermore, the new 787s are equipped with an updated Royal Laurel business class cabin featuring the latest-generation full-flat seats. The airline also provides premium amenity kits, fashion-branded pajamas, and a high-end dining experience.

EVA Air and Giorgio Armani: A Synthesis of Luxury

In October 2023, EVA Air introduced a range of enhancements to its premium travel experience, marked by a strategic partnership with Italian fashion giant Giorgio Armani and the release of a third-generation inflight sleepwear collection designed by renowned fashion designer Jason Wu.

EVA Air’s collaboration with Giorgio Armani represents a harmonious blend of fashion and functionality. Passengers aboard long-haul flights departing from Taipei in Royal Laurel Class will be presented with new amenity kits.

For outbound flights from Taipei, passengers will receive a champagne-colored hard case adorned with a pebble pattern, which encapsulates the essentials, such as toothpaste and moisturizer, and includes a cardholder designed for practicality. This kit transcends the ordinary, offering a holistic travel experience that marries style and substance.

Meanwhile, passengers will receive a black soft-bag overnight kit bearing a Japanese tatami mat pattern on the return journey from abroad. This tasteful addition is accompanied by a branded keychain and a refined coin purse, turning every traveler into a bearer of fashion and functionality.

What distinguishes these amenity kits is their determined commitment to sustainability. The products they house are all-natural, non-animal tested, and free from additives, courtesy of the respected American brand Malin+Goetz.

Jason Wu’s Airborne Elegance: The Inflight Sleepwear Collection

In addition to Giorgio Armani, EVA Air’s collaboration with fashion star Jason Wu unveils the third-generation inflight sleepwear collection. Born in Taipei and based in New York, Wu brings a seamless blend of fashion and comfort to the traveler’s journey, exemplifying refinement and functionality.

This collection offers a sublime retreat for Royal Laurel Class passengers embarking on long-haul flights. The sleepwear showcases a casual hoodie-style top featuring a front kangaroo pocket for convenience. The tapered-leg pants include an adjustable drawcord, prioritizing personal comfort. Crafted from jersey fabric, these stylish pajamas come in two colors and three sizes—small, medium, and large.

EVA Air asserts that these pajamas, boasting a “classic athleisure look,” are poised to transition from the runway to the airline cabin and even the streets. Wu notes that travelers can now make a fashion statement in any corner of the world, ensuring comfort and elegance throughout their journey.
