Delta Air Lines opened a new retail store at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) this week, showcasing artisan goods and unique gifts from destinations across its international network.

The Window Seat Shop opened its doors to Delta’s frequent flyers on Tuesday, November 14, near Gate B20 at JFK Terminal 4. The pop-up store’s products can also be bought online at delta.com/windowseatshop.

Initially open exclusively to SkyMiles American Express Card Members, it opened to all SkyMiles Members on Wednesday, November 15.

As a member, you can now access a wide range of products, including a skateboard from Nigerian skate shop WAFFLESNCREAM, quirky bread lamps designed by Japanese artisan Yukiko Morita, hand-crafted pottery from luxury Brazilian gallery Elysian Collective, and natural, organic, African-inspired skincare products from South African brand CHILL Cape Town.

Exciting travel experiences are also available, such as the chance to play basketball at Madison Square Garden before watching a New York Knicks game or a private hot air balloon ride over the southwestern United States.

“Our SkyMiles Members’ loyalty means everything to us, and experiences like these are representative of what our Members can continue to expect from us,” said Alicia Tillman, Chief Marketing Officer at Delta Air Lines.

“We want them to feel the same excitement we feel when we’re able to give them the opportunity to have new experiences, whether that’s taking them directly to an adventure in a new location or bringing the best products from some of our top destinations to inspire future adventures directly to them.”

Passengers will have the chance to purchase exclusive travel experiences and handpicked merchandise from small businesses worldwide and earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) while shopping. The JFK store and online shopping will both award frequent flyers one MQD per dollar spent – the same rate MQDs earn when purchasing flights.

Shoppers can use the points towards reaching 2025 elite status, with modifications to Delta’s SkyMiles Program coming into effect from January 1. From 2025, Delta SkyMiles members will need:

  • 5,000 MQDs to reach Silver Medallion status
  • 10,000 MQDs to reach Gold status
  • 15,000 MQDs to reach Platinum status
  • 28,000 MQDs to reach Diamond status

The pop-up shop at JFK was opened with the help of former NBA player and New York icon Carmelo Anthony, who is a Platinum Medallion Member and small business owner himself.

“I’ve been a Delta customer and SkyMiles Member for years, so being part of The Window Seat Shop’s opening event was a full-circle moment,” he said. “As a business owner myself, I’ve always felt that my values and Delta’s have aligned. The Window Seat Shop is a perfect example of how Delta helps to elevate small business owners from around the world, while also providing one-of-a-kind experiences for its SkyMiles Members.”
