Delta Air Lines has inaugurated its first-ever Sky Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), marking an important milestone in its expanding presence in the Queen City.

The new lounge, which covers 14,000 square feet, opened on December 18 and is situated on the mezzanine level of the recently expanded Concourse A. It offers seating for up to 246 guests.

With this new opening, Delta continues to enhance its airport lounge offerings in 2024. This year has also seen the launch of the airline’s premier Delta One Lounges in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston.

A Tribute to Queen Charlotte

Like other newly opened Sky Clubs, the new Charlotte space is a tribute to the city’s rich history and natural beauty, drawing inspiration from its namesake, Queen Charlotte. The lounge is designed with a neoclassical flair that elegantly intertwines the architectural grandeur of the past with contemporary comfort.

As you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere filled with vibrant floral motifs that capture the essence of the region’s lush landscapes. The use of natural materials throughout the space not only enhances the aesthetic but also echoes Charlotte’s dedication to preserving its green spaces and promoting tree conservation.

Guests are invited to relax in a serene environment while enjoying panoramic views of the bustling airfield and concourse below. This thoughtful design creates a unique blend of sophistication and tranquility, allowing visitors to fully appreciate both the lounge’s beauty and the scenic backdrop of the airport.

“It’s always exciting to plant roots in a new market and introduce Delta Sky Club to a new group of customers,” said Claude Roussel, Vice President of Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience. “We can’t wait for our Charlotte guests to experience the amenities and hospitality that have made our Clubs so popular across the country.”

Thoughtful Amenities

As with other regional Sky Clubs, the new Charlotte lounge is equipped with a variety of amenities tailored to enhance the travel experience.

A large food buffet and two beverage stations provide ample options for dining, while a dedicated quiet space includes six soundproof booths—one of which is ADA-compliant—for guests seeking focused work environments.

As Delta does not operate long-haul flights from Charlotte, the lounge does not feature shower stalls. However, the space is thoughtfully designed to provide an optimal environment for both work and relaxation, with comfortable seating, quiet areas, and amenities that cater to a variety of traveler needs.

Major Passenger Experience Upgrades

In addition to increasing its lounge footprint across the U.S., Delta is actively upgrading the appearance and ambiance of its aircraft cabin interiors.

The airline has unveiled all-new cabin designs, which will be introduced, starting with the Boeing 757s and moving to the Airbus A350s in early 2025.

The updated cabins will incorporate natural materials such as wool and memory foam in widebody jets, and the lighting will seamlessly adjust throughout different phases of the journey.

Expanding Delta’s Footprint in Charlotte

Delta’s presence in Charlotte continues to grow, offering daily flights to seven of its major hubs—Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Boston, LaGuardia, and JFK.

The new Sky Club at this southern airport elevates the experience for Delta customers and celebrates Charlotte’s cultural and natural heritage. With its thoughtful design and premium amenities, this lounge sets a new standard for comfort and service at one of the nation’s busiest airports.
