Delta Air Lines is resuming daily nonstop flights from New York (JFK) to London Gatwick (LGW) after a lengthy 15-year hiatus. Reopening this link between New York and London’s second-largest airport boosts the airline’s connectivity to London via the city’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

“Delta started flying to the UK 45 years ago this month at Gatwick, and so it is fitting that we are restarting our operations from Gatwick to the United States,” said Nicolas Ferri, Vice President of Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India at Delta. “On board, customers will discover an elevated service and special touches to make the journey more memorable.”

According to Stewart Wingate, CEO of London Gatwick Airport, the resumption of Delta’s flights to New York will help expand the airport’s connectivity within the US.

“Delta is a huge name in the transatlantic market, and being able to offer passengers across London and the South East the opportunity to travel with them between Gatwick and New York City is fantastic, providing not only wider choice but further competition,” Wingate said.

The Atlanta-based carrier plans to fly the route with newly refurbished Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which has a capacity for 226 passengers, including 26 Delta One Suites, 35 Comfort+ seats, and the remaining 165 in the Main Cabin.

All passengers onboard will have seat-back screens with premium entertainment, in-seat power USB outlets, and free mobile messaging. In addition, free WiFi will also be available on the route by the end of 2024.

Initially, the JFK-LGW route was revealed earlier this year as part of a more extensive network expansion, which included nonstop service to Auckland, New Zealand, along with other European destinations from different Delta U.S. hubs.

The new link between New York and London will depart once daily from JFK at 23:35 and land at London Gatwick the next day at noon, returning to New York at 14:10, landing arriving by 17:00.
