After years of overcrowding and frustration, has opened the doors to a brand-new Centurion Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. This long-awaited debut marked the culmination of an ambitious project designed to solve a problem that has plagued Amex’s top cardholders for years. Following my arrival from Taipei and before my connection to Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to see the new lounge during peak rush hour.

Near the airy atrium of the main terminal hall, The Centurion Lounge perches on the mezzanine overlooking the runways outside and restaurants below. An elevator takes visitors up to reception.

Access Options

I used my American Express Delta Reserve Card to access the lounge. My parents, who are authorized users, could enter with me. Starting in 2025, the unlimited entry allowance for Delta flyers and their guests will change to just a few passes.

The Lounge

The 14,000-square-foot space is divided into two sections, one open and the other enclosed. To the left of check-in is a high-ceilinged seating area with metal arch buttresses, hanging orb lights, floor-to-ceiling windows and a premium bar. Adjacent to this is a coffee bar called Blue Roast by American Express. The inner part of the lounge features additional seating and a self-service buffet. The walls are adorned with black-and-white photographs of notable artists from the region and luggage bookshelves.

Food and Beverage

The buffet boasted a diverse array of piping hot dishes. The salad bar featured a bounty of fresh produce along with invigorating juice shots. Another area offered bread, butter and various sweets, including filled doughnuts and cookies. The bar not only poured signature cocktails but also had an extensive wine and spirit collection. At the coffee bar, I ordered a cappuccino, and the barista skillfully crafted a Centurion logo on the foam. However, my favorite was the gelato machine, churning out two flavors.

Amenities

A shower stall is available, but you’ll need to sign up digitally at the front desk. Once you’ve provided your information, you’ll join a virtual queue and receive a text when the facility is ready. A staff member will escort you to the back and you’ll have 15 minutes to freshen up with L’Occitane bath products. Private phone booths are available for business meetings, and there are reserved sofas and tables for Centurion cardholders.

Best For

Passengers seeking a relaxed preflight experience with a range of food and beverage options and renowned Centurion offerings.

Verdict

The relocated Centurion Lounge in Seattle has a wonderful design with increased capacity, no longer feeling heavily crowded. The addition of a coffee bar and gelato machine are extra perks that bring delight to travelers’ journeys.
