A full-suite hotel where guests enjoy separate living and sleeping areas with ample space to stretch out, the newly built, 30-story Embassy Suites by Hilton Nashville Downtown has 506 spacious suites, most of them with floor-to-ceiling windows and scenic views of Nashville’s dynamic skyline from the 27 balcony suites overlooking downtown.
Upon entering, the courteous staff checked me in under the watchful eyes of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Bob Dylan, whose images are painted on a black-and-white brick mural in the lobby. It was the hotel’s first nod to Nashville’s rich musical history, which is further exemplified by the property’s neighboring landmarks including Music City Center, the convention center, and Bridgestone Arena, where top touring acts play when they visit Nashville. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Ryman Auditorium (known as “the Mother Church of Country Music” and the home of the Grand Ole Opry), and the Johnny Cash Museum are also within walking distance of the hotel.
Before venturing out on the town, I got acquainted with my spacious accommodations. My Skyline Panoramic Corner Suite—which can accommodate up to four people with the comfortable pull-out sofa bed in the separate living room—featured a work desk suitable to be used as a dining-in table for four, adjacent to a wet bar complete with a microwave, coffeemaker, mini-refrigerator, and steamer.
As part of the Embassy Suites concept, I was also treated to their acclaimed made-to-order breakfast, which includes the brand’s signature omelets. The same lounge-restaurant space becomes Harmony in the evenings, with complimentary drinks and snacks served daily during a popular reception featuring live music and entertainment.
After venturing out on Church Street for the day, I enjoyed a superb 40 oz. Tomahawk steak at lobby-level hotel restaurant Hand Cut Chophouse, the first outpost outside of Scottsdale, Arizona. If you’re visiting during peach season, be sure to try the butter cake with roasted peaches, caramel sauce, and vanilla bean ice cream.
End your day as I did, atop the 30th floor at The Overlook, where you can enjoy garnished sundown cocktails, live music by up-and-coming artists, and small bites as you look down at the bustling streets of Music Row.
