In a remarkable move, Hilton’s noted luxury line, the Waldorf Astoria, carved its footprint into the Mexican Caribbean with the opening of the highly anticipated Waldorf Astoria Cancun. While a first in the region for the Waldorf Astoria, the brand’s signature opulence sets a new standard for what a stay can mean on the Caribbean shores of Cancun.

Less than 20 miles south of Cancun’s busy Hotel Zone, the property commands a prime oceanfront spot. Sweetening the location is the Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, with which the new Waldorf Astoria shares a multitude of amenities, making it a synergistic hub of high-end hospitality in this trendy tropical destination. Here, five reasons to check in.

Savor the Stay

For starters, the accommodations at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun are simply exceptional. Expect calming hues of whites, beiges, and blues against marble floors under soaring ceilings. The sublime ocean backdrop is the star here, and the simple elegance of the property’s interiors augment that sense of place.

With a total of 173 rooms along 100 beachfront acres, standard accommodations can go toe-to-toe with many urban apartments in scope—up to grand suites that are as large as many homes. All accommodations feature soaking tubs, private balconies and, of course, magnificent ocean views. Top suites add private plunge pools, gourmet kitchens and dining areas, two spacious living areas with pool tables, book nooks, multiple balconies, extra baths and more, all shimmering with the seductive luster of seashells.

Savor the Senses

Culinary delights abound at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun, with five tempting food and beverage outlets. Find inspiration here from New York’s original Peacock Alley Lounge. Also find Malpeque, a seafood must-do in Cancun with an open-flame grill locking in the flavors of the sea. Chaya is an all-day brasserie catering to all cravings, while Ja’o serves traditional Mexican favorites in a fashionable cantina setting with an expansive menu of spirits to match.

Savor the Play

Two oceanfront infinity pools keep the fun in full swing. The long sandy beach strand just beyond beckons for beach-walking, body surfing, building sandcastles and collecting shell mementoes with or without the kids, who may be engrossed in storytelling, painting and treasure hunts of their own through the Waldorf’s special Kids Programs.
