WestJet Restarts Most Canadian Services
By the end of July, the carrier will resume 24 domestic routes and launch 11 new nonstop across Canada
Canadian carrier WestJet has announced the resumption of 24 domestic routes and the launch 11 new nonstop flights by mid-July. The carrier has already resumed flights between Edmonton and Regina and between Edmonton and Saskatoon.
Three new routes will start over the next few days, from Regina to Kelowna and from Saskatoon to both Kelowna and Victoria.
Overall in the next few weeks WestJet will restart 10 Alberta routes from Calgary, Edmonton and Medicine Hat across the country. It is adding three new routes from Edmonton to British Columbia – to Nanaimo, Kamloops and Penticton.
Seven routes in Atlantic Canada will be restored over the next week, including service between Halifax and Toronto and service to Sydney, Nova Scotia, and to Deer Lake and Gander, Newfoundland. WestJet will also start new service from Calgary to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on July 29.
John Weatherill, WestJet’s chief commercial officer, said the airline continues to work toward the restoration of its pre-COVID-19 domestic network to ensure that when guests are ready to travel, “we are there for them.”
