Porsche Design, Steigenberger Partner on New Hotel Concept

Legendary car company and high-end hotel operator will collaborate on a luxury lifestyle brand

Porsche Design Group and Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts have partnered to launch a new hotel concept in the luxury lifestyle segment. The joint hotel brand, tentatively called Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels, will operate in a number of international destinations.

Porsche Design was created in 1972 by the carmaker to extend its brand into multiple products. The group is well-recognized in the travel industry for its designs in such as premium luggage and first class airline amenity kits.

Dr. Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design Group, said the two companies share common values. He said they both “demand the highest standards of quality and exclusive design and strive for continuous development.” Together, he said, “we want to offer our guests a completely new hotel experience.”

The German hotel group Steigenberger, which was founded in 1930, currently operates 160 hotels across three continents.

Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Steinberger, said, “There is scarcely any company in the hotel business other than Steigenberger which has brought so much quality, service and passion to bear over a period of more than 90 years.” Porsche Design brings a unique design philosophy to the partnership, he added.

With these strengths, said Bernhardt, “we create a new and exciting product which will encourage people to rediscover the hotel sector.”

Details about the new brand and its portfolio are forthcoming at a later date.
