Marriott’s AC Hotel Brand to Debut in the Dominican Republic
The 129-room AC Punta Cana is set to open in 2021, catering to travelers who combine business with leisure
Marriott International has announced that its first AC by Marriott hotel in the Dominican Republic is set to open next spring in Punta Cana. Developed by Marriott and EGI Business Group, it will be managed by Highgate.
Responding to a growing trend in travel that combines business with leisure, this 129-room property will boast larger areas than the brand usually offers, such as a pool, gardens, fitness center and rest areas. The hotel will have multifunctional spaces including the AC Kitchen, the AC Store and the AC lounge, as well as corporate event space – a feature which is not available locally in this hotel segment.
The AC by Marriott Punta Cana will be the 11th AC in the Caribbean when it officially opens in 2021. The announcement reflect Marriott International’s expanding footprint worldwide; earlier this month, the hotel group opened a 151-room Residence Inn in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.
AC Hotels is Marriott’s lifestyle-led European-style brand with nearly 160 hotels in 22 countries and territories.
