Kimpton Opens in Atlanta’s Buckhead Neighborhood

The 217-room hotel is described as a mid-century modern design with “heartfelt Southern hospitality”

February 24, 2021

IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Atlanta’s neighborhood of Buckhead. The 217-room hotel is described as a “1950s-era adaptive reuse boutique hotel” with mid-century modern design and “heartfelt Southern hospitality.”

Drawing inspiration from Atlanta’s nickname, “The City in a Forest,” the property incorporates themes of trees, greenery and nature throughout. Even the name ‘Sylvan’ is derived from the Latin word for ‘forest.’

The lobby features an oversized, curved fireplace wall with glazed tile and stone, and dining venues include The Betty, which offers menus inspired by mid-century supper clubs. Meanwhile, the lobby-adjacent outdoor Willow Bar, plus a rooftop bar and “funky” restaurant St Julep, which provides panoramic views of Buckhead, will open later this spring.

Rooms feature simple lines and skyline or garden views, along with amenities such as apothecary bath products and Frette linens.

The hotel also offers an evening social hour, morning coffee and tea service, and over 4,000 square feet of meetings and events space. Leisure facilities include a fitness center, a pool, and cruiser bikes.

Recent additions to the Kimpton portfolio include the Kimpton Aluna Hotel in Mexico and the Kimpton Da An Hotel in Taipei City. The brand is also set to debut in France this spring, with the opening of the Kimpton St Honoré Paris.

Other properties in the pipeline include developments in Bali, Germany, Mexico, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and the Netherlands.
