JW Marriott Premieres Brand’s 100th Property in Tampa

Located in the Water Street neighborhood, the 519-room hotel is next door to both the Tampa Convention Center and Amalie Arena

Marriott International has announced its 100th JW Marriott property with the opening of the brand’s first hotel in Tampa, FL. The 519-room hotel is located in the dynamic Water Street neighborhood, next door to both the Tampa Convention Centre and Amalie Arena.

The opening brings to 100 the number of hotels in the JW Marriott portfolio in over 30 countries and territories worldwide.

Guests at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street are welcomed into a four-story atrium lobby lounge featuring hanging art and a floating conference room known as the ‘Skybox.’ Amenities include a pool with cabanas on the sixth floor, and a spa with ten treatment rooms, a plunge pool and boutique.

Several room categories feature floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious bathrooms with natural light. The hotel also offers Stay Well Premier Rooms on the 16th floor, which feature a Vitamin C-infused shower, circadian lighting and an air-purification system.

There are two restaurants on site: Driftlight located on the main floor offering regional farm- and ocean-to-table cuisine, and Six, appropriately located on the sixth floor, allows guests to choose between indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the resort pool or bay front.

Other dining options can be found at the neighboring Tampa Marriott Water Street, all overseen by executive chef Joseph Pankrath.

The hotel also offers nearly 97,000 square feet of meetings and events space, including the largest hotel ballroom in Tampa Bay.

“The first JW Marriott opened in Washington DC in 1984 and was a tribute to my father, J.W., and a celebration of his love of service and hospitality,” said Bill Marriott, executive chairman of the Marriott International board. “Our family is incredibly proud that my father’s name now welcomes guests in over 100 desirable destinations across the globe now, including Tampa.”

A formal grand opening celebration of the hotel is expected to take place in April.
