IHG Dynamic Reward Nights Are Going Global

The number of Reward Club points required for a room will vary, the same way room rates in cash do

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced that its IHG Rewards Club loyalty program has begun expanding dynamic pricing on Reward Nights to more hotels around the world.

Dynamic pricing means the number of points required for members to redeem a Reward Night will now flex up and down, the same way room rates in cash do. The move comes on the heels of what the company calls a successful launch in the Greater China region last month.

During the test market rollout, the company said nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of hotels were able to reduce the number of points members needed to redeem Reward Nights.

Also in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, IHG has reduced the requirements for its Elite status members and extended status through January 2022. Points never expire for members with Elite status and expiration dates have been extended for all members.
