Seat Tour – United Polaris Business Class from Singapore to San Francisco

If you want to fly direct to Singapore from the United States, as I write this, you have two options.

There are United flights from LAX and SFO or a Singapore Airlines flight from SFO. I had a chance to fly on United’s SFO-SIN service, done in (and made possible by) Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The aircraft’s fuel economy makes the 8787 mile trip both possible and economically viable (and one of the world’s longest airline routes).

The Business Class experience is part of United’s Polaris re-brand and most of the airline’s fleet has been reconfigured with the new Polaris seats. My flight was on the previous generation seat, which is still nice and goes completely flat, but not every seat has aisle access. With the 2-2-2 configuration, unfortunately, if you’re in a window seat and your seat mate is fully reclined, you’re forced to step over them (or wake them up).
