The new Terminal B at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport opened in early December, and so far what’s getting the attention of travellers is less the new gates and concourses filled with natural light than the fancy restrooms.

The 250,000-square-foot terminal opened with 11 of its 18 planned gates on December 1, part of an $8-billion overhaul of the airport’s passenger facilities.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the new terminal includes spacious men’s restrooms with 15 stalls and 16 urinals in 2,810-square feet, compared to six stalls and six urinals in 536 square feet in the former building.

The women’s rooms have four times more space than in the old terminal, and there is also a new nursing room (pictured).

One travellers called the facilities “the Cadillac of airport restrooms”.

Jalopnik provided further details, noting the reflective glass on the floors, wider stalls, and hooks and shelves for travellers’ bags.

Doors on toilet stalls are decorated with panels depicting scenes of New York landmarks like the parachute drop at Coney Island, the Unisphere in Flushing Meadow Park, and the arch in Washington Square Park.
