July Airline Ticket Prices Up Over 2017
The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by US-based travel agencies increased nearly 11 percent in July as compared to July 2017, according to data from the Airlines Reporting Corp.
The dollar value for the time period totaled $7.7 billion vs. $6.9 billion the year prior. According to ARC’s statistics, the average US roundtrip ticket price for July 2018 was $485, up $11 from the same time in 2017.
The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for US travel agencies increased nearly 5 percent to 24,202,477 compared to 23,066,639 in July 2017. US domestic trips increased approximately 3 percent while international passenger trips increased nearly 8 percent. Electronic Miscellaneous Document sales in July 2018, including fees for products and services such as seat upgrades and checked luggage, rose 30 percent over the same period last year.
