Hyatt has outlined plans to add 40 new properties across the West Coast of the United States over the next three years. The group currently operates 89 hotels in California, Oregon and Washington, and plans to increase this figure by around 45 percent by the end of 2021.
Hyatt said that the West Coast was a priority “due to business demand from several strong markets in cities like San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle”, as well as to serve corporate and leisure travelers from Asia.
Forthcoming properties include the Park Hyatt Los Angeles at Oceanworld Plaza (2020), the Grand Hyatt at SFO (summer 2019), the Andaz Palm Springs (autumn 2019), and the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center (early 2020) The group will also add nearly 30 properties across its Hyatt Centric, Hyatt House and Hyatt Place brands, including the Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland, (January 2020), Hyatt House San Jose Airport (April 2019), Hyatt House LAX (February 2020), Hyatt Place Sacramento Airport (November 2020), Hyatt Place SeaTac Airport (April 2021), and Hyatt Place LAX (February 2020).
There will also be several additions under brands which have recently joined the Hyatt family, following the group’s purchase of lifestyle hotel management company Two Roads Hospitality. Thompson Hollywood is set to open in early 2020, as is Tommie Hollywood, while the Joie de Vivre and Destination Hotels brands will add three properties in California next year.
Finally an as-yet-unnamed property is set to join Hyatt’s Unbound Collection in Hollywood later this year.
