Free and Faster WiFi at NYC Airports

The three major New York area airports – John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty, as well as Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y.  – are now offering free and faster WiFi with a four-hour time limit.

The new speed will allow for streaming of Netflix, video conferences and downloading large files. Until now, most terminals have charged for WiFi after the first half-hour under an arrangement with provider Boingo. Travelers can log on by choosing the wireless network at their airport and then hitting “select”; there may be a short ad.  The move is part of a cluster of enhancements to the airports’ customer experience. LaGuardia is in the midst of a major renovation and JFK is slated for a similar overhaul in the near future.
