Cathay Pacific Adds Airbus A350-1000 to its Fleet

Cathay Pacific is delighted to bring its first Airbus A350-1000 back to Hong Kong from the factory in Toulouse, France.

The airline is contracted to receive an additional 19 A350-1000 aircraft by 2021.

The plane will operate regional services initially and then will be placed on its first commercial flight to Taipei on July 1, 2018. On September 15, the aircraft will launch the carrier’s new service to Washington, DC.  At 8,153 miles this will be the longest route in the Cathay Pacific network.

Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul Loo states: “We already have one of the youngest long-haul fleets in the sky, and with the arrival of the A350-1000, our fleet is only going to get younger.

“The -1000 is very similar to the -900 in terms of its operational excellence. It has an incredible range, is remarkably fuel efficient and quiet, provides customers with an unsurpassed cabin environment and has extremely attractive operating economics.

The aircraft holds 334 passengers across Business, Premium Economyand Economy Class cabins.  It is also more fuel efficient than its predecessors and uses a blend of alternate jet fuel.
