British Airways to Use Air Belgium for New York Service

Carrier's A340s will operate one of BA's daily LHR-EWR flights between April 1 and June 8

Between April 1 and June 8 British Airways will subcontract one of its New York services to Air Belgium. The move allows continuing precautionary inspections to be carried out on the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines on some of BA’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The flight in question is one of BA’s daily services operating between London Heathrow and New York Newark Liberty Airport. Flight details with Air Belgium’s A340 are already displayed on ba.com.  Air Belgium’s A340 is configured two-class; there is no first class and no premium economy cabin. Economy class fares do however have a more economical HBO (hand baggage only) option.

Outbound service is BA185 departing Heathrow at 1050 and arriving into Newark at 1340. Return service is BA184 departing Newark at 1805 and arriving into Heathrow the following morning at 0615. BA has posted some information about Air Belgium on its website.

More travellers will get to experience the Air Belgium product now that it is being used on a more popular long-haul route.  Until now BA has been using Air Belgium for flights linking London with Abu Dhabi, Cairo and Dubai.
