British Airways Closes SFO Lounges

With Terraces Lounges shuttered for renovations, travelers are scrambling for alternatives

The British Airways Terraces Lounge at San Francisco International closed at the start of the year for a six-eight month renovation, leaving travelers to seek alternatives among the other seven premium lounges in operation at the airport’s Concourse A, the SFGate reports.

British Airways has been directing its lounge members and premium-class flyers to the China Airways small Dynasty Lounge on Level 4 of Concourse A.

But British Airways Club World and Oneworld elite members also have access to lounges operated by Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific at SFO.

Meanwhile, Korean Air passengers who had been using the BA Terraces lounge are now being directed to the Air France/ KLM Lounge on Concourse A.

The Cathay Pacific lounge is especially large and popular with international travelers, and is located next door to the Dynasty Lounge. Premium Qantas travelers have also recently been granted access to the Cathay Pacific lounge, which can accommodate up to 170 guests.

The Air France/KLM lounge also is quite popular — and can get crowded at times as a result, travelers report.
