United Airlines has opened a new lounge at its George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, designed especially for travelers needing to grab a quick bite or drink before heading off for their flight.

The brand-new United Club Fly at IAH is the second of its kind in United’s lounge network following the opening of its first location at Denver (DEN) in 2022.

Unlike typical airport lounges, where premium passengers and frequent flyers are encouraged to relax and unwind, with multiple seating options, private working areas, and even shower facilities, the United Club Fly concept has a particular type of traveler in mind — those in a rush.

At the new space, eligible guests can enjoy seamless access by scanning their boarding pass their boarding pass at the automated entry gates. They can then choose from a wide selection of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, such as warm pastries, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

There’s also a full-service coffee bar where guests can enjoy a range of barista-crafted beverages, including all the coffee shop staples and seasonal specialties, such as Lavender Matcha Latte and Blueberry Acai ‘Galaxy’ Latte.

In addition to this, a self-service beverage counter allows passengers to quickly grab soft drinks and iced tea or refill their water bottles before rushing off to their gate.

With a ‘Space City’ design that takes inspiration from the Houston area, the new United Club Fly is located on the south side of IAH’s Terminal B. Seating is available, albeit limited, in the small lounge, but no restrooms are available.

According to United, over 300,000 travelers have visited the first United Club Fly in Denver since it opened two and a half years ago. Following the success of its first location, Houston makes logistical sense for its second site, as over half of United passengers at the airport are there on layovers.

The new United Club Fly at Houston is now open to United Club members, MileagePlus Cardmembers, one-time pass holders, premium United passengers on international flights, Star Alliance Gold members on international flights, and premium passengers flying with a Star Alliance member airline.

“We’re bringing elevated convenience to Houston with the opening of our second Club Fly location,” said Alexander Dorow, Head of United Airline’s Club and Lounge Program. “Designed for on-the-go United Club members, Club Fly offers a club experience that matches the ways travelers’ needs have evolved, especially when they’re pressed for time.

“Not all customers travel the same way and that encourages us to constantly look at new opportunities to add value to our club program and support travelers throughout their entire journey.”
