United Airlines has announced the opening of a new type of lounge at Denver International Airport (DEN) designed for busy passengers. The brand-new United Club Fly location is being marketed as a ‘grab-and-go’ lounge, where eligible United passengers can choose from a selection of snacks, soft drinks, and coffees to take with them on the way to their flight.

To enter, passengers must scan their boarding pass at the automated gates, which will only grant entry to eligible customers. Once in, people can choose from a selection of snacks and sandwiches in a supermarket-like environment, order a barista-crafted coffee, and choose a non-alcoholic beverage from a self-service drinks counter. There is no need for checkout—customers can take their items and make their way to their flight.

Located at the new Concourse B-East expansion at Denver International Airport, United Club Fly is open to all international business class passengers, United Club members, and one-time United Club pass holders.

Its contemporary design draws on inspirations from the local area, with the interior and furnishings created by local artists and businesses in the style of a Colorado ski lodge.

The lounge occupies a much smaller space than traditional United Club lounges, with just 16 seats and room for eight people standing at the bar. However, most users are expected to be busy travelers looking to grab a snack or drink on their way to a connecting flight.

According to the airline, 54 percent of visitors to all its lounges prefer to take their food and drinks to their flight, while more than two thirds of the airline’s customers that pass through Denver are connecting to other destinations.

“United Club Fly is all about elevated convenience,” said Luc Bondar, United’s Marketing & Loyalty VP and MileagePlus President. “We know there are times when our members are in a hurry and use our clubs to sneak a quick drink or snack, so we’ve created this new format to make it easy for them to do that without sacrificing an upscale club environment.”

The announcement of the new lounge comes after the recent openings of United Club lounges at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). All of these new lounges are part of the airline’s commitment to innovate its brand image and provide a more modern and exclusive experience for its customers.
