New amenity kits debuting this month in economy and business class cabins on Turkish Airlines flights celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Türkiye, including six of its 21 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The “UNESCO Türkiye Series” kits are already available for business class passengers on flights lasting between five and eight hours. A different version of the kits will be introduced for economy class passengers on flights longer than eight hours in mid-January.
Designs Showcase Iconic World Heritage Sites
Designed in collaboration with the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, each zippered pouch in the kits features one of six World Heritage sites in Türkiye.
Chosen sites include Mount Nemrut, a mountain in Southeastern Türkiye topped with the tomb sanctuary of Antiochus I and colossal statues of the king, the gods, and animals.
Other passengers will receive pouches depicting Göbekli Tepe, a Neolithic archeological site featuring some of the earliest human-made monumental architecture in the form of huge stone pillars and circular structures.
A third kit depicts a hot air balloon trip in Cappadocia, a historic region in Anatolia with stunning geological formations such as fairy chimneys, underground cities that harbored early Christians, and rock-hewn Byzantine churches and monasteries.
Other kits feature the Library of Celsus in the ancient Greek city of Ephesus and the Church of Saint Gregory of Abughamrentz within Ani, a ruined medieval Armenian city.
The final pouch depicts the mythical Trojan Horse to pay tribute to Troy, an archaeological site layered with millennia of settlements and literary importance.
In other kits, the pouches are decorated with ebru or Turkish marbling. The kits also incorporate three traditional carpet-rug motifs, a way of modernizing traditional Turkish art forms and introducing them to new audiences.
Eco-Friendly Items in Business Class Kits
The business class kits include hand and body lotion and limb balm from luxury Parisian perfume house Ex Nihilo and socks, eye masks, and toothbrushes made from 80 percent recycled or sustainable materials, such as biodegradable cornstarch.
“With the UNESCO Türkiye Series, not only we are providing our guests with a memorable flight experience, but we are also showcasing Türkiye’s rich cultural heritage to the world,” said Turkish Airlines Chief Operations Officer M. Akif Konar.
“This collection is a tangible expression of our efforts to present Anatolia’s millennia-old history and art to our passengers in a contemporary way. We hope our guests will form a unique bond with Türkiye’s deep-rooted past through these sets.”
Turkish Airlines has gained acclaim by staying true to Turkish tradition, even at 35,000 feet. Its catering, named the best in the world by Skytrax last year, features regional meze, or appetizers, platters, and grilled dishes such as an Adana (ground meat) kebab.
As the airline that flies to the most countries—120, according to Guinness World Records—it’s taking Türkiye’s proud cultural heritage to every corner of the globe.
