SWISS Air Lines is set to revolutionize its in-flight experience by introducing its new Senses cabins next year. In collaboration with Pearson Lloyd—a renowned London-based design agency—the airline has created “cocooning” seats for business travelers, designed with rounded, soft, and enveloping shapes that evoke comfort, intimacy, and tranquillity.
Based on Lufthansa’s recently launched Allegris product, these seats promise a relaxing experience, allowing passengers to unwind and feel refreshed and energized at their destination.
According to Pearson Lloyd, the seats are rendered in “timeless colors” of claret, anthracite, and high-quality materials, drawing inspiration from Switzerland’s nature and architecture and creating coziness at cruising altitude.
The seats are set in a “ground-breaking” configuration that Pearson Lloyd developed alongside the airline group and debuted on Lufthansa jets in the spring of 2023.
In SWISS’s new business class cabin, five different seat types meet the varying needs of travelers. In addition to the classic business seat, passengers can select privacy seats that can be closed off with a sliding door, seats with extra-long beds to make their mid-air nap more comfortable, seats with additional space to stash their belongings, and double seats that can be booked with their travel companions.
All seats recline fully flat, with a minimum length of two meters. Each has aisle access, a wireless charging station, heating and cooling controls, an entertainment tablet, spacious luggage storage, and a lamp.
The Basel-based airline is reconceiving all cabins on its long-haul flights, a rebrand called Senses, from First through Business and Premium Economy to Economy classes.
“With SWISS Senses, we’re making our customers’ air travel an even more personal and more sensual experience,” said the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour.
“With its deep devotion to detail, our new long-haul cabin will give our passengers a particular feeling of warmth and well-being – a cozy and comfortable yet functional environment in all our travel classes.”
In all cabins, passenger senses will be stimulated by state-of-the-art inflight entertainment systems, with larger screens and connectivity for personal devices.
Meanwhile, a new lighting concept, Human Centric Lighting, will help travelers transition to new time zones and reduce the effects of jet lag.
The cabins will take to the skies in 2025.
North American passengers can experience the revamped SWISS on flights from Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York City (JFK), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington, D.C. (IAD).
