Qatar Airways is set to enhance its New York link by introducing a third daily flight to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) starting October 30.
The airline’s new flights are scheduled for early morning arrivals and late evening departures, strategically facilitating seamless connections to a vast network of over 80 destinations across Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The expansion comes as a response to the recent announcement from American Airlines regarding discontinuing its JFK-DOH route for the upcoming Winter 2023-24 season.
In light of this change, Qatar Airways has swiftly decided to introduce an additional frequency to New York, reinforcing its commitment to serving the city. The void left by the canceled route will be filled by American Airlines flights to Doha from its Philadelphia hub.
Qatar Airways expressed its appreciation for American Airlines’ new Doha route, underlining the advantages of effortless travel with convenient connections. The collaboration enables travelers to access over 90 cities throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Central America, as well as over 80 cities in Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East.
This move signifies an expansion of the ‘strategic partnership’ shared between Qatar Airways and American Airlines. The newly added flights will operate in harmony with American’s existing service between JFK and Doha, fortifying the alliance.
Qatar Airways solidified its dedication to two other prominent North American carriers: JetBlue and Alaska Airlines. The partnership brings enhanced connectivity, particularly at JFK Airport. Loyalty program members of Qatar Airways Privilege Club and JetBlue TrueBlue can accrue miles through mutual codeshare initiatives.
Furthermore, Qatar Airways and Alaska Airlines are poised to elevate their collaboration, delivering increased value to West Coast customers through an extensive ‘codeshare expansion’.
Passengers can soon book flights to an expanded range of destinations beyond Doha on Alaska Airlines’ website, effectively broadening travel options.
Qatar Airways boasts a robust presence in the U.S., serving major cities including Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), Philadelphia (PHL), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Washington DC (IAD).
Reflecting on the expansion, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker stated: “Our unwavering commitment to our longstanding U.S. partners, American Airlines, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines, is built on our mission to connect the world through our hub to our 160 destinations and more. We look forward to building more connections and uniting global passengers from across the world.”
