Chilean carrier LATAM Airlines is investing significantly in its lounge network, opening new lounges and renovating existing spaces in major airports across South America.

New lounges in Lima and São Paulo

First, LATAM will open a $10.5 million lounge at Lima, Peru’s (LIM) airport. Spanning 26,000 square feet in Jorge Chávez Airport’s new international terminal, the lounge will comprise two separate spaces—Signature and Premium—with a shared reception area.

If the Lima lounge follows the same policy as LATAM’s lounge in Santiago (SCL), the Signature area will be reserved for the highest tiers of the LATAM Pass loyalty scheme, Black Signature and Black, and those flying in LATAM’s Premium Business Class. The Premium area will be open to Platinum LATAM Pass members and those with Premium Economy tickets.

When can travelers passing through Lima expect to enjoy the new space? That’s still up in the air, as the new terminal opening at Jorge Chávez Airport has been repeatedly postponed. LATAM remains optimistic and says the lounge “is about to arrive in Lima.” It hopes that in 2026, the lounge will be fully operational, with a projected 24,000 travelers using the space each month.

LATAM is also drawing up blueprints for an $18 million lounge at São Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport (GRU). Set to cover more than 50,000 square feet in the airport’s Terminal 3; it will be the largest airport lounge in Latin America when it opens in 2027. The lounge will replace a smaller existing lounge at the airport.

Bogota and Miami: Renovation

LATAM will also upgrade its lounge at El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia, at the cost of $500,000. The renovated space, set to fully re-open in May, will have individual work pods, refreshed rest areas, and ample outlets in seating areas.

The airline group also plans to expand its lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA), its main gateway to the U.S.

“These new infrastructures reinforce our commitment to offer more sophisticated and welcoming spaces,” Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group, said.

“They will align with the [lounge] already in operation in Santiago since 2022, featuring modern and comfortable areas inspired by South American architecture, culture, hospitality, and national elements,” he added.

LATAM also operates lounges in Santiago, Chile (SCL) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE).

Signature check-in

LATAM has also introduced dedicated, luxurious check-in areas for its most loyal travelers.

Reserved for LATAM Pass Black Signature and Black passengers, these Signature Check-in areas are open 24 hours a day and offer tablets and portable printers so travelers can check into their flights quickly and easily.

LATAM currently has Signature check-in areas at two airports—Santiago and São Paulo—and will open another in Lima’s new airport terminal later this year.

It’s all part of LATAM’s investment in passenger experience. Latin America’s largest airline has invested hundreds of millions in upgrading its hard and soft products over the past few years.

That includes a $360 million bill for adding plush business class suites to 24 of its Boeing 787 aircraft. The new cabins, the first in South America with privacy doors, will debut this year.

For travelers on tighter budgets, LATAM also offers more affordable luxury in its premium economy cabins. Since introducing the fare class in 2020, LATAM has enhanced it with new perks, including premium food, lounge access, and priority check-in and boarding.
