Condor, the predominantly leisure-oriented carrier, has introduced a new onboard experience for its passengers ahead of the summer season.

The airline recently announced its collaboration with the experimental beer brand from Berlin, BrewDog, to launch a special beer variety, ‘Ferien Lager,’ exclusively for its passengers.

The move is expected to enhance the overall holiday experience for the airline’s customers, especially those traveling to popular holiday destinations.

As a popular holiday destination for Germans, the new beer variety seems like a perfect addition to Condor’s onboard offerings. According to the airline’s spokesperson, the ‘Ferien Lager’ variety has been specially curated to cater to the German liking for beer, which is comparable to the love for wine in Italy and France or vodka in Russia.

This collaboration is expected to add a unique flavor to the overall holiday experience, giving the passengers something to look forward to even before they reach their destination.

“With an alcohol content of 5.0%, ‘Holiday Lager’ is a light pale with a balanced combination of Simcoe, Sapphire, Hüll Melon, and Cascade hops. This unique blend of hops not only gives the beer a fruity flavor but also provides an incomparable aroma,” BrewDog explains on its website.

Even more significantly for Condor, each can of ‘holiday lager’ comes in yellow-striped colors and sports ‘Condor’ titles, reproducing the innovative livery the airline is applying to all its new aircraft and retrofitting to older ones.

“Whether en route to a beach vacation or on the way to the next adventure trip, the creation is the ideal companion to get in the mood for time away already on board,” Christian Schmitt, COO of the Frankfurt-based airline, commented.

The Ferien Lager is free as part of the complimentary drink offering in Business Class and Premium Economy and at a price of EUR4.5 (USD5) in Economy Class.

A Future With Stripes

Condor has been making waves in the aviation industry with its unique and eye-catching ‘vertical stripes’ livery unveiled last year.

While some critics have labeled it as ‘cheap,’ the innovative design has undoubtedly been a marketing success. The inspiration behind the livery was to replicate the look of beach towels, and as more planes are repainted, the scheme has evolved to include five different stripe colors: yellow, red, blue, green, and beige.

In a bid to enhance the in-flight experience for its passengers, Condor has also announced a new partnership with ZDF Studios. The collaboration will result in a significant expansion of the Inflight Entertainment offerings available to travelers.

Passengers on selected flights operated by the newly acquired Airbus A330-900s can now enjoy a much broader selection of movies, TV series, and documentaries, with access to up to 270 films and almost 280 series.

Among the new additions are Hollywood titles like ‘Babylon’ and ‘The Menu’ and German movies such as ‘Oskar’s Kleid’ or ‘Einfach mal was Schönes.’ Fans of popular TV series can now watch episodes of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and ‘Friends.’

Fleet Renewal Program

Condor Airlines is renewing its long-haul fleet with 18 Airbus A330-900s. The first plane was introduced in December 2022, and five have been delivered to date.

Each A330-900 features a three-class cabin with 30 seats in Business, 64 in Premium Economy, and 216 in Economy. The airline’s front row of cabin seats, called “Prime Seats,” can be booked with a Business Class ticket from EUR199.99 (USD220) per route.

These seats have exclusive features such as more legroom, a wider bed, a 24-inch 4K monitor, pajamas on night flights, and a free internet package for unlimited text messaging.

The A330-900s are currently used for flights connecting Condor’s main hub in Frankfurt Main to New York, Los Angeles International, and Seattle, with Toronto joining the roster on May 24.

As of May, the A330-900s fly alongside four A330-200s and seven Boeing 767-300ERs for the airline’s long-haul routes, while nine Boeing 757-300s, 11 Airbus A321ceos, and 13 A320ceos are assigned to medium and short-range flights.
