This month, British Airways (BA) is treating passengers to a very British Christmas, with turkey dinners onboard planes, pop-up festive markets in lounges, and presents in the seat back pocket.

Travelers will feel the Christmas spirit as soon as they board BA flights between now and December 27.

The plane’s headrests have specially designed holiday covers, and the inflight entertainment systems offer a dedicated Christmas channel with festive favorites such as Home Alone, The Grinch, and Die Hard.

Traditional British Christmas Dinners

Once their flight is underway, passengers can scoff at traditional British Christmas dinners of turkey with “all the trimmings.”

Throughout the month, BA will serve over 250,000 turkey dinners, including 700,000 Brussels sprouts and 40,000 pigs in blankets.

The drinks carts are also decked for the holidays, with guests offered a warm “cuppa” Twinings Christmas tea or glasses of Scottish brewery BrewDog’s Hoppy Christmas IPA.

In First and Club World (long-haul business class) cabins, afternoon tea will also be served, with tea, traditional fruitcake, chocolate éclairs, and warming winter cocktails made with either Johnnie Walker Blue (First Class) or Black (Club World) Scotch.

Gifts await First Class guests onboard, including limited-edition Alice Temperley amenity kits with intricate designs inspired by the stars at cruising altitude.

On flights between December 23 and 25, First passengers will also unwrap a collectible Christmas bauble, a tradition BA started on its holiday flights last year.

The 2024 bauble commemorates a century of BA flights between the UK and India with a hand-painted design incorporating British and Indian landmarks.

Club World travelers will also receive bespoke British Cartwright & Butler fudge boxes. Between December 15 and 27, BA elves will also offer complimentary paper Christmas hats to those in World Traveller (economy) class.

Children can enjoy chocolate treats and Peggy and Leon activity sheets onboard flights. They can also send letters directly to the North Pole by posting them through Santa’s letterbox in BA’s lounges in Heathrow’s (LHR) Terminal 5.

Short-Haul Gets in on the Holidays

Passengers on short-haul BA flights won’t miss out on the fun. The airline has laden its High Life Café carts with holiday goodies, including British chef Tom Kerridge’s ultimate turkey feast sandwiches, ‘pigs in blankets’ roll from sausage-maker The Jolly Hog, and Yuletide tipples, including BrewDog’s Elf lager and Bottlegreen Edward’s Vodka Raspberry Spritz.

All are available for purchase on short flights, with the sandwiches starting at £5.50 ($6.99) or 985 Avios points.

For some lucky travelers, the festivities will start on the ground at the airline’s London Heathrow and Gatwick (LGW) lounges. There, pop-up stalls are selling last-minute gifts from original British brands, including chocolates from Harry Specters and The Cocoabean Company and hand-piped baked goods from the Biscuiteers.

In the First Lounge at Heathrow, Santa’s helpers will be on hand to wrap those gifts with specially designed snowflake wrapping paper incorporating the BA’s speed marque logo.

All BA lounges at Heathrow will serve a “winter picnic” menu, with mince pies, brie and cranberry sandwiches, and Christmas cocktails.
