Alaska Airlines passengers can head straight from the runway to the slopes with complimentary lift tickets at nearby ski resorts, a new perk for Mileage Plan members.
During the 2024-24 ski season, winter sports enthusiasts can claim their lift tickets at six ski resorts in the United States simply by showing a same-day Alaska Airlines boarding pass for a flight arriving at a nearby airport.
The US ski resorts included in the promotion are:
- Arctic Valley Ski Area in Alaska, accessible from Anchorage International Airport (ANC)
- Bogus Basin in Idaho, accessible from Boise Airport (BOI):
- Eaglecrest Ski Area in Alaska, accessible from Juneau International Airport (JNU)
- Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming, accessible from Jackson Hole Airport (JAC)
- Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Idaho, accessible from Spokane International Airport (GEG)
- Steamboat Ski & Resort in Colorado, accessible from Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN)
Canadian Resorts Within Reach
The promotion extends to three Canadian ski resorts in British Columbia and Alberta. Travelers landing in Canada have more flexibility and can claim their lift passes up to 21 days after their flights, depending on the resort.
Canadian ski resorts participating in the promotion are:
- Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, accessible from Kelowna International Airport (YLW) – lift ticket claimable on the day of arrival or the following day
- Ski Marmot Basin Resort in Alberta, accessible from Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG) – lift ticket claimable up to 21 days from the flight
- Red Mountain Resort, British Columbia, accessible from Spokane International Airport – lift ticket claimable up to 10 days from the flight
How to Participate
To participate, travelers must be a member of the Alaska Airlines frequent flyer program Mileage Plan.
“For Mileage Plan members, the perks extend beyond your flight,” Alaska Airlines says on its website. “Throughout the 2024-2025 season, you can unlock exclusive benefits at our partner resorts. Whatever world-class mountain you decide to ride next, our network and global partnerships network are your ticket to the best winter resorts in the world.”
The resorts may also throw in additional promotions, such as a discount on lift tickets on extra days.
Some restrictions apply, depending on the resort. You may be limited in the number of times you can claim the free lift passes within the ski season or be unable to claim during blackout days at peak times. The promotion is also weather-dependent. The ski season runs until April.
What are the restrictions?
The skiing season for various resorts wraps up on different dates in 2025. Arctic Valley Ski Area will conclude its season on April 12, while Bogus Basin and Eaglecrest Ski Area will end slightly later, with Bogus Basin finishing in mid-April and Eaglecrest on April 14.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will close on April 13 but has blackout dates from February 15 to 16, as does Sun Peaks Resort, which ends its season on the same day, with blackout dates from February 14 to 17.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers free night skiing for guests arriving on a Wednesday or Monday, valid for claim on Thursday, with no blackout dates.
Ski Marmot Basin Resort has the latest closing date on April 30, while Red Mountain Resort will end its season earlier on April 7, both without any blackout dates.
