Alaska Airlines announced it will launch its first-ever nonstop flights to the Bahamas, with two services from West Coast airports set to start later this year.

Starting just two weeks before Christmas, Alaska Airlines will launch direct seasonal services to Nassau International Airport (NAS) from both Los Angeles (LAX) and its primary hub of Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), all operated with its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

Starting on December 15, 2023, two services will be available until April 9, 2024. Departing from LAX, flights will run four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:40 AM and arrive in Nassau at 6:55 PM. The return flights will take off from the Bahamas at 11:00 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and land in LAX at 2:20 PM.

The Seattle-Nassau route will be available for three flights per week. Flights from Seattle to Nassau will leave at 9:00 AM and arrive at 6:16 PM on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Meanwhile, flights from Nassau to Seattle will take off at 10:00 AM on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and land at 2:05 PM.

Once launched, the routes will become Alaska Airlines’ first-ever nonstop service to the Bahamas. At the same time, it will also be the carrier’s only service to the Caribbean, having previously operated flights between LAX and Havana (HAV).

“We’re excited to add a ‘new dot’ to our route map and believe our guests will appreciate the convenience of nonstop service to the Bahamas this winter,” said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning for Alaska Airlines. “Whether our guests choose to stay in Nassau or venture to the outer islands, the pristine beaches and crystal clear waters of the Bahamas await.”

Lance Lyttle, managing director at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, said, “SEA welcomes another dynamic, sunny winter destination – the first time Nassau has been served with nonstop service from Seattle. Alaska Airlines is providing that opportunity for fun and sun to go with destinations from Mexico to Hawaii – choices Seattle travelers will surely be happy to have!”

In addition to the new Nassau flights, Alaska Airlines is set to launch flights to winter sun destinations in Mexico from Las Vegas. Starting December 14, the carrier will launch a 4x weekly seasonal service from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) to Puerto Vallarta (PVR), and the next day it will launch 4x weekly flights from LAS to Cabo San Lucas (SJD). Both routes will be operated with an Embraer E175 and will finish in mid-April 2024.
