Air France has partnered with Alltheway to offer remote check-in and baggage drop-off at select locations in Paris for CDG passengers.

The new service is designed to give Air France’s passengers peace of mind when checking in for their flight, knowing that their checked luggage is securely and efficiently transported from their hotel onto their flight and to their final destination.

Using the online platform of Alltheway, an innovative tech start-up specializing in travel and mobility solutions, Air France passengers can arrange for their baggage to be picked up from a certain location before heading to their airport, where they will go through all the usual security checks, before picking them up again at their location.

The new service follows Alltheway’s partnership with hotel giant Accor. It is available to Air France passengers at five Accor hotel locations across Paris – Novotel Tour Eiffel, Mercure Tour Eiffel, Novotel Les Halles, Mercure Montparnasse, and Pullman Bercy.

Passengers can also select baggage pick-ups and drop-offs from three further locations – the Paris Expo Port de Versailles, the Villepinte Exhibition Centre, and the Palais de Congrès convention center – while the service is expected to be extended to further locations in and around Paris, including for flights out Paris Orly Airport (ORY), in the coming months.

To use the new service, passengers must use the Alltheway website or mobile app, enter their Air France flight details, and select their desired pick-up location from the available list. Pick-ups can be arranged from 30 to 4 hours before their flight’s departure time, depending on the distance of their location from CDG, and an Alltheway agent will greet them at their desired location.

All baggage will undergo extensive security checks at each stage of the journey, from the pick-up point to the check-in desk at the airport, before going into the hold of the passenger’s flight. Passengers can also log in to their Alltheway personal account, where they can keep track of their baggage along every step of the journey and quickly locate it should anything go wrong.

Prices start at €25 ($27.50) for one luggage item, with additional bags costing €10 ($11) each. Certain special or bulky baggage items, such as pushchairs, golf bags, and animal cages, can not yet be included in the service.

The service is now available to all Air France passengers flying out of Charles de Gaulle, regardless of their fare type. However, it is currently unavailable on Tel Aviv (TLV) flights.

Remote baggage check-in services are a growing trend among major airlines. In July, Singapore Airlines launched a similar service in partnership with AirPortr, allowing its customers to check in their luggage from home before flying with Singapore Airlines out of London Heathrow (LHR).
