Air Canada Celebrates Aeroplan’s 40th Anniversary with 40 Million Points Giveaway

Air Canada is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its award-winning loyalty program, Aeroplan, by giving away 40 million Aeroplan points to its members.

During the ‘Aeroplan-niversary‘ celebration, over 8 million Aeroplan members will have the chance to win one of 40 prizes of 1 million Aeroplan points each.

Air Canada estimates that 1 million Aeroplan points are worth $30,000 CAD ($22,000 USD). Points can be redeemed for flights to over 1300 global destinations.

“Thanks to our members, Aeroplan has become one of the best travel loyalty programs worldwide,” said Scott O’Leary, Vice President of loyalty and Product at Air Canada.

“To celebrate this achievement, we’re excited to partner with our premier travel and everyday partners, who help our members maximize their earning and redemption potential across a wide range of flights, hotel stays, and everyday purchases,” O’Leary said.

“Whether a member for one year or 40, our members can earn points faster and travel to over 1,300 destinations worldwide. Cheers to the next 40 years!”

How to participate

All Aeroplan frequent flyer program members are eligible for the promotion.

However, they must enter on Air Canada’s website. The registration form can be found on the special landing page created for the anniversary celebrations. Applicants must complete the form by July 17th.

Additional offers

Along with the prizes, Air Canada will introduce a variety of exclusive offers and savings opportunities over ten days to its customer base.

Offers will include 40 percent bonus points on eligible flights and vacation packages, 40 bonus points for every eligible Uber ride or Uber Eats purchase, 40 points for every 30 liters of gas purchased at participating Chevron, Pioneer, Fas, and Ultramar gas stations operated by Parkland, 20 percent back in points when redeeming 20,000 points or more on hotel stays, gift cards, car rentals, and other eligible merchandise, and 10X multipliers on points for eligible Aeroplan eStore purchases from brands like Lululemon, Dyson, and Wayfair.

Additionally, members approved for their first Aeroplan credit card will receive 40 percent more points on every eligible purchase for the first 40 days of their enrollment. Eligible Aeroplan elite status members who enter will automatically receive one extra entry.
