Hotel Check: Best Western Plus Salt Lake City Airport

WHERE IS IT? Just a short drive from Salt Lake City’s brand new airport terminal, the hotel is a convenient option for a layover or early-morning flight. It helps that a complimentary shuttle takes guests to and from the airport. Also within a short drive is downtown Salt Lake City, the Great Salt Lake, and in the Wasatch Mountains, Park City and Deer Valley ski areas.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? As a Best Western Plus, the hotel offers upgraded perks compared to a traditional Best Western. This is notable in the elevated free breakfast offering and in-room décor. The lobby has comfortable leather seating and free wireless Internet. COVID-19 safety protocols were in place during my visit requiring guests to wear masks and follow social distancing signage during their stay. I found the rooms and public areas to be especially clean, and I felt very comfortable during my stay.

ROOM FACILITIES Comfortable and no-fuss, the rooms are spacious with large sitting areas, refrigerators, coffeemakers and full-length mirrors. The beds are comfortable with lots of pillows, and most importantly, bedside power and USB outlets. I liked that bathrooms had plenty of towels and wide vanities stocked with citrus-scented Pharmacopia brand toiletries. Views are nothing special here, but most travelers are using this hotel as a quick overnight on their way to somewhere else. Others may be doing business in the area and appreciate the convenient location.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS The only meal option here is the complimentary hot breakfast served each morning. Unfortunately, during my visit, this was just a bagged continental option, but I really appreciated having hot coffee and tea available all day in the lobby.

LEISURE FACILITIES There’s an indoor heated pool, whirlpool and gym that’s enough to supplement one’s workout program.

BUSINESS AND MEETING FACILITIES Free wireless Internet is available throughout the hotel, and there is no extra charge for parking.

VERDICT There are no hotels directly connected to the airport, and the free shuttle and breakfast at this hotel are big draws (along with the allure of Best Western Rewards points).
