September 18, 2019
French hotel group Accor has launched the first property under its new sustainability-oriented brand: Greet.
The 52-room Greet Hotel Beaune in Burgundy brings a restaurant, outdoor pool, a large garden and a game room among the onsite amenities.
The hotel brand seeks to encourage use second-hand objects and decorations, and source items from sustainable suppliers. Common features include large tables for groups, and rooms offering space for four to six people.
Upcoming Greet properties are expected to show up in Marseille, Lyon, Paris, Saint-Witz, Rennes, Bourges and St-Germain-en-Laye with an aim to open 300 Greet hotels by 2030.
Accor has 36 different brands, ranging from the upscale Raffles and Fairmont to the budget Ibis and HotelF1 … and a new brand may be in the offing as the property experiments with “pods.”
Enter: The Loft
Accor’s Innovation Lab is constantly pushing back the boundaries to offer new experiences and now, The Loft, a nomadic accommodation concept, may soon be ready to book.
The Loft is designed as a nomadic, self-contained, “pop-up,” a mobile solution that can offer exclusive experiences right at the heart of an event, out in the country by a lake, or in any out-of-the-ordinary location. Uses include team building trips, weddings, detox weekends and festivals, among others.
The Loft acknowledges a trend: hotel solutions that combine comfort and closeness to major events, with travelers’ growing demand for out-of-the-ordinary experiences.
Designed in collaboration with the Group’s Design teams as well as with external experts, The Loft meets the triple objective of practicality, quality and stylish design, and manages to balance space, weight and mobility, despite the technical constraints.
The structures are equipped and able to accommodate up to six people in a fully functional, comfortable, light and airy upscale space. It’s a mobile solution that moves easily from one place to another, providing 322 square feet of glass-covered living space. The Loft is is also totally self-sufficient: containing water and electricity supply for its six guests based on a three-day stay.
The protoype has been in the testing phase since May, traveling the roads to various types of events as a luxury “Pop-Up Hotel.” It features a double bed on the ground floor plus four single beds (or two double beds) on the upper level; a terrace; a fitted, equipped kitchen area; and a bathroom featuring dry toilet.
