The star of Alex vs. America on the Food Network, chef Alex Guarnaschelli has appeared on series such as Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay. The author of several best-selling cookbooks, she will release a new one that she cowrote with daughter Ava in June. And at February’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Guarnaschelli will be honored at the Tribute Dinner and cohost a feast with Italian icon Rao’s. Here, her favorite places to eat around the world.

Paris

“I love Restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris. Guy is a great mentor to me. All these years later, it is still a mecca of French cuisine and dear to my heart.”

Rome

“The last time I went, my daughter and I kept track of all the different doorways. We would drop into a casual trattoria or grab gelato on a corner.”

New Orleans

“Another favorite is Turkey and the Wolf. It’s a casual place with delicious food and a treasure of American culture. New Orleans is a sacred food city, so it makes sense.”

“Nantucket is just one of those unique places in the world. You can get a lobster roll and feel transported. I also love the fries at Brotherhood of Thieves.”
