Visit Aruba: Island Adventure

July 20, 2023

Aruba may be best known for its beautiful beaches and perfect weather, but venture off the sand and you’re sure to be amazed by an incredible set of new and exciting things to do.

Enjoy art murals at St. Nicolas

Aruba Mural Tours guides visitors through the mural art made for the Aruba Art Fair over the past years.

The curator of all murals is now sharing the story featuring himself and his team of how they started transforming San Nicolas into the Art District of Aruba in 2016.

San Nicolas now features murals from top local and international artists from all over the world. The starting point of the tour is at the ArtisA (Art is Aruba) gallery, where all the magic happens. We show an average of 20 to 40 murals depending on which tour you book.

Tours are available every day at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. We also provide upon request special tours that are combined with workshops as well as catering. Don’t miss out on the unique opportunity to learn from the organizer of the Aruba Art Fair who happens to be the curator of all the murals.

Ride with Safari jeep tour

Join a jeep tour adventure with 10 or more 4 x 4 vehicles, Jeeps and Land Rovers, or take in Aruba’s beauty by bus. If venturing out on your own is not your thing, join an organized island tour. Go on an adventurous Jeep Safari or enjoy the comforts of an air-conditioned bus. Both guided by local experts. Organized jeep and bus tours often stop at island landmarks such as California Lighthouse, Alto Vista Chapel, Seroe Crystal, the Bushiribana gold mill ruins, Natural Bridge, the Guadirikiri caves and can finish off on a private island or at one of Aruba’s best beaches for a swim and a snorkel.

Lunch at the famous Zeerover

Zeerover, a local fisherman’s wharf in Savaneta, features the freshest seafood, cleaned and cooked in front of you. Zeerover is a local hangout that over the past years has become a destination by itself. Locals relax, eat and drink here, shoot pool, and have a great time while fishermen prepare their fresh catch. Zeerover is located oceanfront, on a fish pier in Savaneta, Aruba’s first capital. Zeerover- a Dutch word which means ‘pirate’- is a very casual eatery that serves fish and drinks at local prices. The freshly caught fish is served in ‘finger-food’ style, straight from colorful baskets. The vibe here is very laid-back and this place is popular with both locals and tourists. On your way in there’s a counter on the left where you can purchase fresh fish to go, or to enjoy on the pier. While the menu is simple and features one or two daily fresh catches, along with some local sides, the backdrop is a most gorgeous ocean view. Prices? Local. A very good deal.

Kitchen hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The kitchen is closed on Mondays. Cash only.

Attend Kite Surfing School

The best kitesurf spot in the world is in Aruba. Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is a new and exciting water sport using the wind to power the kite and a board to move across the water. The sport combines aspects of paragliding, surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding. Harnessed to a large hand-controlled kite (size of the kite depends on person’s weight and wind speed) and powered by the wind, the kiteboarder uses a board to ride and glide across the water. Aruba Kitesurfing School teaches kitesurfing in a safe, efficient and fun way while sharing our passion for kitesurfing and the ocean to the world. The school is located at Fisherman’s Huts which is walking distance from the high rise hotel area. They teach in shallow crystal clear blue waters, warm temperatures, and trade winds all year-round and offer kitesurfing lessons, wing surfing lessons, hydro foiling lessons, stand up paddle boarding and more!

You can fly direct to Aruba aboard United Airlines from NYC/ Newark ( EWR ), Chicago ( ORD ), Houston ( IAH ) and Washington Dulles (IAD). To book your flight, click here.
