Heathrow has a new Hilton and it is directly connected to the world’s seventh busiest airport (by measures of traffic) through a 14-story, 369-roomGarden Inn.
The new hotel opened last month and is directly tied to Heathrow’s Terminal 2. It offers a 24-hour business center, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and The Shop – a 24-hour, grab-and-go retail space. Additionally, for meetings and events professionals, the hotel has five high-tech meeting rooms, with the largest capacity for up to 65 people. Guests can also dine at the hotel’s restaurant, The Apron, or visit the rooftop Runway Bar.
The property is the first hotel at Heathrow Airport to provide guests with direct access to the Queen’s Terminal via a walkway.
“More than 80 million people pass through Heathrow every year, and this is a great accommodation option to make their travel journey that much smoother,” said Simon Vincent, executive VP and president, EMEA, Hilton. The opening comes during the international hotel company’s 100th anniversary, since pioneering the hotel airport concept in 1959.
The brand, a Garden Inn, is the 10th to open in the United Kingdom. Hilton pioneered the airport hotel concept with the 1959 opening of Hilton San Francisco and today has more than 470 airport hotels across the world. The opening of Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminal 2 marks another milestone in Hilton’s airport journey in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Five more airport properties are expected to open in EMEA this year, including Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport and Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Airport.
The hotel is within proximity to frequent transport links, allowing guests to reach London in just 15-minutes using Heathrow Express. There are also several convenient and nearby attractions including, the picturesque Windsor Castle and Thorpe Park for those who want to wander and explore.
Currently, a night at the new airport property will run $155.
