Qatar Airways Plans Seattle Service

The route, scheduled to launch in March, also includes codeshare and frequent flier agreement with Alaska Airlines

December 9, 2020

Qatar Airways has announced the launch of a new four times weekly service to Seattle. The flights are scheduled to start in March 2021. The Seattle will be operated aboard the airline’s A350-900 with 36 Q Suite business class seats.

In addition, the Gulf carrier, a member of the oneworld alliance, will begin a reciprocal frequent flier partnership with Alaska Airlines starting Dec.15, followed by a codeshare agreement which will take effect next spring when the Seattle-based carrier joins oneworld on March 31.

There are currently no direct, nonstop flights between Seattle and Doha. Qatar Airways is also set to launch flights to San Francisco Dec. 15, and this, coupled with the new Seattle route will bring the carrier’s US network to 11 destinations.

“Qatar Airways is committed to enhancing connectivity within the US market, and the launch of flights to Seattle, our second new US destination since the onset of the pandemic, epitomizes this commitment,” Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker.

“In Alaska Airlines, we will have a very strong partner to connect customers from the US West Coast to Doha and beyond via its hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, complementing our existing strategic partnerships with American Airlines and Jetblue.”
