Emirates Restarts Dubai-Athens-Newark Flights

Daily service is set to resume June 1 offering connections to the Middle East, Asia and Africa

Emirates is set to resume service between Newark and Athens beginning June 1. The daily Dubai-Athens-Newark flights will provide a convenient connection to travelers headed toward the Middle East, western Asia, and Africa via Dubai. The flights will operate aboard a three-class Boeing 777-300ER.

The Gulf carrier says the addition of Newark will complement its two daily flights to New York JFK. Emirates has also resumed services to Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and the most recently announced flights to Seattle, Dallas and San Francisco, bringing the airline’s US network to 10 destinations.

The resumed service to Newark via Athens is part of the airline’s global reboot of its fifth freedom network, much of which had been suspended because of the pandemic. Fifth freedom routes are operated by a carrier between two countries, neither of which is the airline’s home base.
