Emirates and Qatar Airways Extend Status Benefits
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club tier status is extended to Dec. 31, while Emirates is pushing tier reviews out by 12 months
Gulf carriers Emirates and Qatar Airways have both announced changes to their frequent flyer programs to extend benefits for members whose statuses are set to expire.
Emirates Skywards program has added 12 months of validity to current statuses. For example, if a member’s current tier review date is March 31, 2021, their new tier review date will be extended to March 31, 2022.
In addition Emirates is extending the validity of any Skywards Miles due to expire since April 2020, until 30 June 2021.
The airline said it would be rolling out further initiatives throughout the year to help members retain tier status, or fast-track to a higher tier status.
Meanwhile, for frequent flyers in Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club, all Silver, Gold and Platinum members whose tiers are due to expire this year and who have not earned enough Qpoints to retain their status, will see their benefits extended until Dec. 31, 2021.
Both airlines have recently announced a return to key gateway cities in the US. Qatar Airways launched new services to Seattle in January, and has made a number of other network enhancements in the US, including plans to relaunch its service to Atlanta in June.
Emirates is also boosting its US presence, resuming flights to Seattle, Dallas and San Francisco.
