Breeze Airways Takes Delivery of First E190 Aircraft
The plane is the first of 15 Embraer regional jets leased from Nordic Aviation Capital
Breeze Airways, a new airline from JetBlue founder David Neeleman, has taken delivery of its first of 15 aircraft on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital. Breeze is Neeleman’s fifth airline start-up. In addition to JetBlue, he also launched Morris Air, Canada’s WestJet and Brazilian carrier Azul.
Initial markets for Salt Lake City-based Breeze will be mid-sized US city pairs that currently have no nonstop service. The airline plans to connect these cities with low-fare, high-quality nonstop flights using new consumer technology innovations, improving the flying experience and saving travelers time and money.
“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with Nordic Aviation Capital and to take delivery of our first Embraer E190 from NAC,” said Neeleman. “We look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial relationship together as well as the next 14 aircraft.”
NAC, a regional aircraft lessor, serves approximately 75 airline customers in more than 50 countries. “Regional aircraft like the E190 were the first to be returned to service as they are ideally suited to serve post-COVID demand,” explained Jim Murphy, CCO of NAC. “It allows airlines to continue to profitably service all of their pre-COVID markets and retain pre-COVID frequency.”
