Air France Sets September for A220 Delivery
The aircraft is the first of a 60-plane order that is part of the carrier’s renewal of its short and medium-haul fleet
Air France is set to take delivery of its first new Airbus A220-300s in September, according to a company announcement. The aircraft is the first of a 60-plane order the carrier has placed as part of what the airline calls “the renewal of the short and medium-haul fleet.”
Air France’s A220s will be configured with 149 seats in a 3-2 layout, and the aircraft will offer inflight WiFi connectivity. The carrier has highlighted customer benefits including larger overhead bins, windows and aisles.
The A220s will gradually replace the airline’s A318 and A319 aircraft. Find more information (in French) in this PDF produced by Air France.
Airbus introduced the A220 family in 2018, rebranding the Bombardier C Series after the manufacturer took a majority stake in the aircraft program.
The A220 news came in a press release announcing the delivery of the carrier’s 11th A350 aircraft (named ‘Cannes’), part of the carrier’s renewal of its long-haul fleet. The airline retired its A380 superjumbos last year, and is taking delivery of a total of 38 A350-900s over time to replace older Boeing 777 aircraft.
