Air Canada Resumes Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Flights
The five-times daily service connects the convenient Toronto Island facility with Montreal
Air Canada has restarted service from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on Toronto Island with five daily roundtrip flights to Montreal. Services are operated by Air Canada Express Jazz aboard a De Havilland Dash 8-400.
The Toronto Island facility is popular among business travelers for its proximity to the city center. The resumption of Air Canada’s service here connects customers to the carrier’s global network through its Montreal hub. Departures are scheduled throughout the day from 7:15 AM to 6:20 PM.
“We are pleased to restart our operations at Billy Bishop airport and offer our customers the choice to fly in and out of Toronto Island,” said Mark Galardo, senior vice president for network planning and revenue management at Air Canada.
“Our schedule enables travelers to conveniently fly between Montreal and Toronto Island Airport up to five times per day, linking the two key business and cultural centers as we continue to play our part to reinvigorate Canada’s economy.”
The Air Canada announcement comes at the same time as competitor Porter Airlines also resumes its domestic turboprop service out of its home base at Billy Bishop Airport. In addition, Porter says it will relaunch its service from the Toronto Island field to US cities, including Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington, DC, beginning Sept. 17.
This week, Canada relaxed its border restrictions on international non-essential travel, allowing entry for fully-vaccinated travelers from other countries without undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine. Travelers from the US had been eligible to enter Canada since Aug. 9.
