Pendry Hotels and Resorts has premiered its first hotel in New York City. The 164-room Pendry Manhattan West is the luxury boutique hotel group’s fifth property in the US.

Located at 438 West 33rd Street, the hotel is part of a six-building mixed-use complex which also includes the flagship Peloton Studios, and a 60,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market.

Food and beverage offerings include Zou Zou’s, a signature restaurant offering modern Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and featuring an open kitchen and wood-fired hearth. The venue is currently open for dinner, and will extend to lunch service later this year.

In the lobby, Bar Pendry features a wall installation by New York based abstract painter Nancy Lorenz, while the Garden Room offers an all-day coffee menu by Vittoria and a daily cocktail hour.

The hotel has 6,000 square feet of meeting and events space including a 1,600-square-foot ballroom and an outdoor terrace, and the fitness center features Technogym equipment and Peloton bikes.

Pendry Hotels and Resorts launched in 2017 with the opening of the Pendry San Diego. The portfolio has since added properties in Baltimore and West Hollywood, and in July the hotel group opened its first Chicago hotel.

Pendry hotels are also set to open in Park City in early 2022, followed by Washington, DC, and La Quinta in 2023. In addition, the group is also redeveloping the Natirar Mansion (formerly owned by the King of Morocco), located about an hour from New York – which will reopen as Pendry Natirar.

“New York City is unlike anywhere else – it has its own gravitational pull, and is the nexus of design, fashion, luxury, culinary innovation, and hospitality in America,” said Michael Fuerstman, co-founder and creative director, Pendry Hotels and Resorts.

“Opening Pendry Manhattan West is an opportunity for us to bring the things that inspire us as a brand to this iconic and electric city – we could not be more honored than to help define a new neighborhood and culture center for one of the great cities in the world.”
