JetBlue to Fly from Fort Lauderdale to Ecuador

JetBlue Airways will begin flying between Fort-Lauderdale International Airport and Guayaquil, Ecuador’s José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport on Feb. 28, 2019.

Guayaquil is the carrier’s sixth destination in South America and second in Ecuador.

The carrier, according to the announcement, will operate the new daily service using its Airbus A320 aircraft with comfortable seating, free first-run movies, the most legroom in coach among U.S. carriers (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch) and complimentary and unlimited name-brand snacks. The airline’s strategy in recent years had been to expand to international markets and it now flies to 22 countries. JetBlue said it expects travelers from many cities  – including New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. Atlanta and Philadelphia to benefit from the route through connections. JetBlue also recently announced an order for 60 Airbus A220-300s and took options on 60 more for its “next-generation fleet,” with the first five deliveries starting in 2020.
