Korean Air Receives Five Stars from Skytrax

Factors considered by auditors included customer service, comfortable seats and continuing process improvements

December 22, 2020

Korean Air has been designated a five-star airline by SkyTrax. The five-star rating recognizes the world’s best quality in aviation service.

Skytrax auditors travelled on Korean Air flights as mystery shoppers for three weeks. They evaluated the quality of customer service in all areas, including check-in counters, lounges, seating, in-flight meals, in-flight entertainment, cabin crew services and in-flight service items, among others factors.

The airline’s service competitiveness is based on its education programs for employees, comfortable seating such as first class Kosmo Suites 2.0 and an in-flight entertainment system that offers a variety of content.

The airline’s in-flight menus use seasonal ingredients and an award-winning wine list, including honors from Business Traveler’s Cellars in the Sky competition. The rating also recognizes the airlines continuing process improvements, introducing new services such as baggage loading notification system for greater customer convenience.

Skytrax has evaluated and awarded the service quality of global airlines since 1999.

“We’re excited to receive a Five-Star Certification from Skytrax, the world’s most recognized customer service experience and airline ratings organization,” said Keehong WOO, Korean Air’s president. “It’s positive and meaningful news during this challenging time, and I’m sincerely proud of all our Korean Air employees who make this achievement possible.”
