Aer Lingus’ Dublin-Hartford service looks set to be the carrier’s first transatlantic route served by the next-generation Airbus A321LR aircraft. Industry website routesonline.com reports that the aircraft will be rostered onto the route from July 1, and the Aer Lingus website now shows the A321LR listed against flights from that date.
The carrier has a total of 14 A321LRs on order, which will feature 16 fully flat business class seats.
Last year Aer Lingus confirmed that confirmed that it will operate the aircraft on both transatlantic and European routes, a move which will see fully flat business class seating offered on selected short-haul services. At the launch of the carrier’s new brand identity last month, Aer Lingus said that it would also operate the A321LR on new routes to Montreal and Minneapolis this summer.
The airline plans to increase its transatlantic fleet from 17 to 30 aircraft by 2023.
